Geek Unique Boutique

I frequently suffer from a bad back. My years working in a nursery picking up kids, having to stoop over a desk to do most of my MustDestroyJewellery work and my current part time job in a shop – where I spend all day standing up – haven’t helped. So, a good comfy cushion is a must for me!

I’ve brought ones from the shops in town up until recently, I found that after a little while they’d either go as limp as a lettuce or extra lumpy. Not good.

I stumbled upon a cool Facebook shop called Geek Unique Boutique at the start of the year and loved their range of fandom based cushions.

My friends birthday was coming up and she loves Sherlock so I was particularly stuck by this cushion, which I ended up buying for her.

The cushion was really well made and had a nice firm insert in it.

I had already noticed that they took on custom orders so I commissioned this…..

How amazing is that. I love Lumpy Space Princess so I was over the moon and floating around in Lumpy Space when they said that could make me an LSP cushion.
The insert for this one is also good and firm – perfect for my lower back – and the cover can be taken off so you can wash it.

Fizz and Danzig also love this cushion which means I have to frequently give it the lint roller treatment but it still looks as good as new despite them decided it would be an ideal cat bed.

I highly recommend Geek Unique Boutique, excellent quality, affordable and fast turn around on orders.
Go check them out!

Adventure Time an amazing Bowie Box a Duck and a Birthday!

This is a birthday post. It’s a bit late as my birthday was way back in February and despite not even being three months ago, it’s seems like ages.

Anyhoo. I chalked up my 31st year on the planet. I found it a bit more bearable than turning 30, I think because such a big deal is made of turning 30. I know many people who I’ve heard say “If I’m not married/got kids/got a mortgage/been to the moon by the time I’m 30, I may as well die” ok, maybe not die, but you know what I mean.
Given that I doubted I’d ever get married, I never really stressed about doing all the other stuff people feel/think they should have done by a certain age.

The weekend of my birthday, myself, Russ and a few of my friends went to a restaurant in London that we love, Bodeans. We went to the Tower Hill branch as its nice and close to Fenchurch Street station and I’m quite lazy.
It’s also close to a Weatherspoons which was handy as we got there early so popped in there for a few pre meal drinks.

The food in Bodeans is amazing. Ribs, burgers, steak, chicken and the famous BBQ pulled pork…..it’s not vegan/veggie friendly.
I normally opt for the pulled pork/ribs combo with chips and creamed corn. I’m quite greedy but even I struggle to finish the meal. Russ normally goes for a burger, they’re huge!
For the pair of us to have a main meal,a side and a drink (non alcoholic) is around the £30 mark which I think is pretty reasonable for a meal in London.

We popped back into the Weatherspoons after dinner and I was given some gifts!
My friend Kris and his girlfriend Claire share my love for taxidermy and they brought me a stuffed duckling.

I held a competition on the MustDestroyJewellery facebook page to find a name for him. I choose the name Pancake.
Pancake now lives in my office, away from the cats who seemed especially interested in him.

My friend Sarah is a bit clever with making stuff and also share my love for David Bowie.
She made me this amazing Bowie trinket box.

It also lives in the office, I use it to pop small, works in progress in.

Sarah also made me these

I only recently discovered Adventure Time and I love it!
These cute little dolls are hand made, most of the bits on them are meddle felted.

Sarah has recently opened a shop on Etsy called Fandom Threads. The store sells cross stitch patterns based on all sorts of geeky goodness like Lord of The Rings, Hannibal and Breaking Bad. Sarah also takes on custom orders, the patterns come with instructions and details of what colour threads to use etc. As the patterns are available as an instant download there are no postal costs or having to wait for them to arrive! Top that off with the fact that each pattern is only £2.50 and you’re on to a winner.

Why not pop over and have a look?
I used to do cross stitch when I was much much younger and I’m quite tempted to give it ago.
Maybe I’ll buy a pattern, try to make it and then do another blog on it?
Yep. I think I will.

Sarah’s husband is a tattooist, he’s done the majority of mines and Russ’ work for the past few years now.
I got this done as a belated birthday gift on Friday

It’s a bit sore, I have a habit of getting tattoos in places that make it a pain to dress or sleep comfortably.

A few weeks after my birthday my friend Sam and her fiancé Adam took me out for dinner. We went to Chiquito.
I don think I’ve ever been there before, but it was pretty nice.
Good door and company, I was very spoilt.
